Welcome
Greetings, my fellow magicians. Whether intentionally or by accident,
you've reached MagicReviews.com, a work in progress (so much better than saying
"Under Construction").
Vision
My vision is to provide amateur and professional magicians a single web
site to provide frank and honest reviews about magical effects, books and videos.
For those of you familiar with the original review section of my other
site, The Magic Portal, my
goal was to first relocate that section to this new site, and then to gradually expand the
format to include digital photos of the merchandise as well as tips and suggestions on
handling and performance if the review warrants it. However, this will take some time and
money to develop, so Version 1.0 of the site is still fairly generic.
Hopefully my long-term vision for this site will be fulfilled through
the creation of an easily searched and highly automated web site using a variety of online
database tools.
Your donations of slightly
used magic items for review or small cash contributions are greatly appreciated and will
be used to build this site into an indispensable decision-making tool for all of your
magic purchases.
Supporting Organizations
This is a huge undertaking, and to try to do this alone would be
foolish. I have enlisted and received the support of the following organizations and
publications including the M-U-M
and The Society of American Magicians, The Linking Ring and The International Brotherhood of Magicians,
Magic - The Independent
Magazine for Magicians, and Genii - The Conjurors Magazine:

I want to thank the publishers and editors of each of these publications
for lending their support to this project and for encouraging me to pursue it. In
particular I wish to thank Richard Kaufman, Phil Wilmarth, David Goodsell and Stan Allen.
Print Review Index
In addition to my own reviews of merchandise both purchased by me and
donated by others, I will include a text database of reviews in each of these print
publications. My goal is not to recreate the original text, but to point you in the
direction of previously published reviews. This, however, will most likely not be
completed until Q4/01.
